Here we are docked at Skagway with the
Norwegian Sky cruise ship which accompanied us during our journey.
Skagway is the "Gateway to the
Klondike" where eager prospectors started their journey to the Gold
Rush. We went on a train ride through the rugged mountains which was the
route the prospectors took to get to the Klondike.
The Rail Road was considered to be an
engineering marvel of it's time equivalent to the Eiffel Tower, the Statue
of Liberty, and the Panama Canal.
Alaska is a huge wilderness filled with
many glaciers. After leaving Skagway, we cruised to Glacier Bay Alaska.
Some glaciers appear blue because the ice
absorbs all colors except blue.
After leaving Glacier Bay, we cruised to Ketchikan Alaska
and from there back to Vancouver, BC where our cruise began.
